Outdoor Education Centre Assistant Required in Worcestershire!

Passionate about learning outside the classroom? Sandwell Residential Educational Service is recruiting a Centre Assistant at the Frank Chapman Outdoor Education Centre in Bewdley, Worcestershire.

The centre, founded in 1928, is part of the Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council’s group of four centres across the West Midland and North Wales and is an AHOEC (Association of Heads of Outdoor Education Centres) Gold Standard centre, situated in 90 acres of oak forest.

The Centre Assistant role is a one year fixed term post and includes training, food and onsite accommodation. Salary: £6673 - £7449.

The successful candidate will be required to work after 7.00pm and provide duty overnight cover therefore due to employment legislation anyone under the age of 18 years of age is exempt from applying for this position.

This post would be suitable for an apprentice. The ideal candidate would complete a 12 month Intermediate Apprenticeship in Activity Leadership.  You will be trained and supported to deliver a range of outdoor and adventure activities as well as learning about the general running of a busy centre. 

Required:

  • GCSE Maths and English.
  • Experience of working in an outdoor education setting.
  • Experience of working with children.
  • An enhanced DBS clearance.

Desirable:

  • Personal National Governing Body awards.
  • Experience of high ropes/mountain biking/climbing/archery/forest school/bushcraft/orienteering and environmental education or other such relevant activities is also highly desirable.
