Cambodia Visit for Falmouth Students

A group of Falmouth students left the comfort of their Cornish homes and traveled to Cambodia for a month to work on community projects.

The students spent the last two years fundraising for the trip. After three days in Phenom Penh, they went on to help repair a dam, build houses and toilets, renovate schools, water projects,  reforestation of community forests and  teach primary and secondary school children in a community school that is supported by Camps International. They also took part in a four day jungle trek in the Kulen National Park.

They worked in three different locations in central and north western Cambodia and the students lived within the local community and worked alongside villagers. During their stay, the students learnt  skills including carpentry, block laying and the basic Kymer language and customs.

Trip leader Ben Tregear said: “The group were phenomenal throughout the trip and achieved a huge amount in their four weeks. They can be immensely proud of the work they completed having all made a difference to a number of people’s lives.”
