Works of Art

The BBC's Your Paintings website has recently been updated to include copies of works of art donated by the Beamish Living Museum, Durham (see above, Bridlington Quay by Richard Willis).

The website, which aims to show the entire UK national collection of oil paintings, the stories behind the paintings, and where to see them for real. It is made up of paintings from thousands of museums and other public institutions around the country. It is a joint initiative between the BBC, the Public Catalogue Foundation (a registered charity) and participating collections and museums from across the UK.

The website contains a fabulous section for schools, containing many useful resources and ideas for using the paintings across many aspects of curriculum delivery, including Drama, Art, Design, Geography, Music and English - click HERE for details.

You can view the Beamish paintings on the website HERE.
