Teacher Banned After Stealing Theatre Trip Money

A teacher at Dene Community School in county Durham has been banned from teaching after stealing money given to him by pupils for school theatre trips.

Between July 2016 and April 2017, 28-year-old Andrew Cowey falsely recorded that pupils at the school had attended the trips for free or received funding from a charity, but he actually kept the money for himself.

To cover up the amount of money missing, Cowey deleted spreadsheets that contained information about school trip funding and amended letters that were sent home to parents.

Head Teacher Uses School Credit Card to Fund Family Holidays

Simon Feasey, a Head Teacher from North Yorkshire, has been banned from teaching after it was discovered that he had been using the school credit card to fund extravagant trips for himself and his family.

In July 2014, Mr Feasey spent £1,900 of school funds on a private trip to Amsterdam with his wife and two children. The Head Teacher was able to disguise the holiday as a ‘pre-visit’ in advance of a school trip arranged for the upcoming September.

Girl Banned from Ski Trip after Throwing Gummy Bear at Teacher

A year 9 pupil has been excluded from her school in Newbold Vernon after she threw a sweet at a teacher during a charity event.

In order to raise money for Children in Need, students had been allowed to throw wet sponges at teachers as part of a charity fun day. However, after throwing a gummy bear at the Deputy Head teacher, 13 year old Katie was accused of “assaulting an adult”.

Bin Lorry Driver Jailed After School Trip Coach Crash

Nicholas Buck, a bin lorry driver, has been jailed for three years and fourth months, after admitting to causing the death of a young girl. The driver pleaded guilty last month to causing death by dangerous driving after a crash in July last year.

Fourteen year old Holly Brown died at the scene after Buck’s lorry crashed into a minibus on the A38 in Castle Vale in Birmingham that was carrying her and her classmates from a school in Staffordshire. Holly was among a group of pupils and teachers from the Barton-under-Needwood school travelling on the bus as part of an art trip.

Newlywed Parents Face Court after Honeymoon Holiday

A couple from Stockton, on Teeside, have had to go to court for taking their daughter out of school for their five-day honeymoon trip.

Janine and Shane Scott took their seven-year-old daughter Elissa on a holiday to New York, but returned home to find that her school had given them a fixed penalty notice for the school days that Elissa had missed. They believed that the school would classify the trip as ‘exceptional circumstances’, however, the head teacher felt that their holiday did not meet that.

A viral video shows a black girl being assaulted by a white woman in a corridor.

Police in Iceland are investigating after a British schoolgirl was slapped and chased by a tour guide in a hotel corridor.

The schoolgirl, 13, who attended Harris Girls’ Academy, was assaulted whilst on a school trip to Iceland to see the Northern Lights. The incident occurred at Hotel Örk, Hveragerdi on 13th October.
