Wednesday 2nd November 2016 marks National Stress Awareness Day, a day that schools should pay particular attention to considering the high statistics surrounding stress in teachers. In 2015, the HSE reported that stress amongst teachers accounted for 2190 cases per 100,000 people employed over a three year averaged period. This is the third highest profession after health professionals and nurses.

Planning school trips may seem like a daunting task and an activity which may add to the stresses of teaching, but it does not need to be. There is endless research behind learning outside the classroom, showing experiences to increase pupil motivation and enjoyment for learning, improve confidence and social awareness, and in some cases, LOtC can be life changing. A viral video shows a black girl being assaulted by a white woman in a corridor.

Police in Iceland are investigating after a British schoolgirl was slapped and chased by a tour guide in a hotel corridor.

The schoolgirl, 13, who attended Harris Girls’ Academy, was assaulted whilst on a school trip to Iceland to see the Northern Lights. The incident occurred at Hotel Örk, Hveragerdi on 13th October.
