Win a School Trip to Kenya!

African Adventures, in partnership with the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom (CLOtC), have launched their School Geography Challenge, aimed to increase awareness of the challenges to development in Africa. The competition invites Year 9 and 10 students across the UK to take part in a decision-making exercise focusing on the potential impact of El Nino flooding in Kenya. The task involves students identifying the impacts of flooding, deciding which are the most significant, before deciding how to allocate a budget on emergency aid.

The top 10 entries will be invited to attend a live final, as teams of four, to partake in a further challenge focused on African Adventure’s flagship partner project, The Walk Centre in Kenya. The best part of this competition is the prize; a trip to Kenya for four students and two teachers to visit The Walk Centre in order to see development in action.

African Adventures has supplied an extensive resource pack for teachers to create lesson plans, with options for competition entries to form part of lessons or as an extra-curricular activity. Simply register your school to the competition by 25th November 2016 in order to access the resources. Competition entries close on 23rd December 2016.

Read up on Kenya as a school trip destination in anticipation of that big win.
