Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC)
Working with teachers to inspire a life-long love of Shakespeare in young people.
The Royal Shakespeare Company is one of the greatest theatre companies in the world. Based in Stratford-upon-Avon, but with shows running around the world, not only are we keeping William Shakespeare's works alive and very relevant to the modern world through its own performances, but our Education Department also works tirelessly to engage with students of all ages on a wide range of projects.
It's our job to connect people with Shakespeare and produce bold, ambitious work with living writers, actors and artists. We work with teachers to inspire a love of theatre and Shakespeare in your students and run events for everyone to explore and participate in our work.
But of course we also put on other productions of Jacobean and Elizabethan work, often with a modern twist, and fabulous contemporary shows such as Bring Up The Bodies (link is external) and the world-renowned Matilda the Musical (link is external).
The department provides resources (link is external) about current productions or GCSE and A level texts and online videos (link is external) for both students (link is external) and staff (link is external)to develop their understanding of Shakespeare and the company's work more fully. We also deliver both summer schools and workshop (link is external)s on a regular basis.
