Outreach

The Outreach department's primary aim is to create diverse forms of theatre work that engage with as wide an audience as possible, both within and without Bristol Old Vic.

Our work stimulates audiences and participants imaginatively and should awaken, or re-awaken, a desire to engage creatively with the world around us, either as participants or spectators.

Although much of our work is directed at young people, we are interested to engage with as wide a range of people as possible.

Young Company

Bristol Old Vic Young Company is home to young people from all across the city. From inspiring weekly sessions to full-scale performances, if you are 7-25 years old and passionate about theatre then you too can get involved.

Our Young Company has performed at Bristol Harbour Festival and in Bristol Old Vic's professional production of Coram Boy, won three awards at the National Student Drama Festival, created six full-length Studio productions and performed both Children of Killers and The Grandfathers at the National Theatre as part of NT Connections. Excitingly, after seeing The Grandfathers Nicholas Hytner invited the show back for a run in The Shed at the National Theatre in July 2013.

More recently Bristol Old Vic Young Company performed Pigeon English, a co-commission with the National Youth Theatre, at Bristol Old Vic and in a sell-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2013. Pigeon English is the premiere stage adapation of Stephen Kelman's Man-Booker shortlisted novel, adapted by Gbolahan Obisesan.
