Warwick Castle

Warwick Castle

One thousand years of jaw-dropping history!

Great battles, ancient myths, spellbinding tales, pampered princesses, heroic knights. You can find them all here at Warwick Castle.

Situated on a bend of the River Avon, Warwick Castle is a medieval castle developed from an original wooden fort, or Motte, built by William the Conqueror in 1068 in the county town of Warwickshire. It was a crucial military base to assist in the Norman Conquest of Britain.

Warwick Castle is packed with things to do, inside and out:

  • Battlements, towers, turrets, awesome interiors and the Great Hall.
  • Interactive attractions, walk-through adventures, Horrible Histories & Mike the Knight.

Don't miss the castle dungeon, the Merlin Dragon tower, the Princess Tower, the Portcullis being raised, the beautiful chapel, awesome interiors of the rooms, archery and sword combat shows, our Warwick the Kingmaker exhibition and walk the ramparts just like Richard, Earl of Warwick would have done.

You can even stay over in one of our tower rooms!

There are shows and activities available everyday at Warwick Castle:

  • Horrible Histories is back - until 31st August 2014.
  • Other shows can include the Mighty Trebuchet, Jousting, Falconry and more.

As custodians of the Castle we take our responsibility seriously:

Schools & Colleges
