The Museum is not simply a repository of artefacts but has active displays, as well as providing a forum for the provision of lectures. There is a mixture of permanent and temporary displays, many exhibits of which have been loaned by companies and other collectors.
Educational Visits
At the Museum of Computing we are dedicated to inspiring learning across all ages.
Our Children’s Club, launched on October 2010, has been a great success so far with positive feedback from parents and children. We are helping children to expand their computing skills through exciting, engaging activities in a friendly and supportive environment. So far we have run several sessions based on games programming to allow young people to take part in Scratch’s competition to make the best game using their software. Check out what we have made. We will also be running sessions based around photo editing, website creation, blogging, making podcasts, and giving children the opportunity to write and publish their own gaming magazine!
The Museum has also recently developed a new education programme for school visits. Schools booking a group visit with us will have the opportunity to explore the Museum and receive a guided tour; they will then be able to pick from one of four sessions delivered in our classroom. The Museum is enthusiastic about supporting schools in delivering the curriculum and we are happy to work with schools to personalise the tour and session to help tailor the visit to their needs.
