Komedia (Bath)
Komedia (Bath)
Leading arts and entertainment organisation Komedia opened its second venue in Bath in November 2008 at the old Beau Nash Cinema, in the heart of the city.
Komedia Bath is the first Komedia-branded venue to launch outside of Brighton, Sussex. Presenting a large and diverse arts and entertainment programme, the unique venue has featured international and national performers, and also played host to a unique range of Komedia-grown resident shows such as the Krater Comedy Club and the Ministry of Burlesque.
Equally adept at programming top-notch comedy, established and breaking music acts, eye-opening cabaret and brand new theatre throughout the year, Komedia’s devotion to booking the best in live entertainment is evident.
Music
Komedia Bath’s music gigs have steadily increased in profile since opening and cover a wide range of genres. Bath’s finest music venue is devoted to their customers, offering them a range of top musicians, from up and coming bands, hot club nights, classic groups, singer songwriters, folk, electronica, reggae, world music and much more, that are sure to delight. Acts have included The Feeling, Kate Nash, Roni Size, Ruby Turner, Levellers, Ash, Bellowhead, Clare Teal, Candi Staton, Noah and the Whale, Dry the River, Fink, Frank Turner and Chase & Status.
Comedy
Inspired by the European tradition of cabaret theatre where audiences can enjoy a meal while watching a show, Komedia Bath has won many awards including the Chortle Award for ‘Best Comedy Venue in Wales and the West’ in 2010, 2012 and 2013. Komedia is also active on the Edinburgh Fringe, producing venues and promoting its artists and resident shows, and is a producer of broadcast entertainment. Komedia has seen stand-up from household names such as Bill Bailey, Steven K Amos, Richard Herring, Russell Howard, Omid Djalili, and Stewart Francis.
Cinema
Komedia has successfully operated a state of the art cinema in partnership with ‘The Little Theatre Cinema’ (part of the Picturehouse group), since July 2012, bringing films back to the building that was the first Cinema in the West of England and the biggest screen in Bath throughout the last century.
Once again hosting the largest screen in Bath, the programme includes a mix of new releases, classics, seasons, and events covering the best in art-house, quality mainstream, and foreign language cinema.
Toddler Time
Toddler Time is a weekly screening (Tuesdays at 11am). Enjoy lunch from the Komedia Arts Café after the screening.
Screenings last 30 minutes, and are designed to introduce pre-school children (accompanied with their parent or carer) to the big screen.
