Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology is an excellent place to take history fans, budding explorers and archaeologists, plus any kids who would like to see something a little different.

There are over 80,000 objects in this little museum so there is plenty to see, such as pottery and a number of everyday objects that give you an insight into Egyptian life. There are also mummified mice, jewellery and 5000 year old linen.

For those who want to know more about the extensive pottery collection, there is a Pottery trail that you can follow to learn more.

There are about 3,000 strings of beads, including the earliest example of metal, some ancient papyrus documents, plus colourful tiles, frescoes and carvings.

The museum also holds a number of different events over the year, which give you a chance to learn more about different aspects of Egyptian life.

This is a rather specialised museum, but great for kids who are into history, Egyptian especially, but there are plenty of objects that should interest and fascinate anyone. Be sure to open all the drawers to see as much as you can.
