Watercress Line
Watercress Line
Opened in 1865 the Watercress Line connected rural Hampshire to the heart fo London by rail. It got its name from the fresh produce it carried to the city making the movement of fresh produce in bulk a realistic possibility allowing urbanisation and fuelling the Industrial Revolution.
Officially known as the Mid Hants Railway, the Watercress Line is open for Educational Visits all year round.
Mid Week Education Sessions, which include a train ride begin again on the 5th May 2015.
The Watercress Line makes a great base for team building, science exploration, bridge building and motivating reluctant writers.
If you are planning a visit later on in the spring, to travel by train, then why not make your trip more than just a train ride! We have an exciting new programme of educational activities, including Evacuee Experiences, Make Do and Mend and Victorian Railway Builders. Be inspired to 'Draw the Line' or photograph 'A Portrait of a Station'.
Dates for visits throughout 2015 are open for booking, please contact the Education Office for availability and to discuss your requirements.
