Falkirk Archives

Falkirk Archives

Falkirk Archives is located in the oak-panelled Victorian library of Callendar House, and is the place to come to find out about the history of Falkirk district or to start your family history research. Local archives and photographs are held here, and may be viewed by the public. Most aspects of local life are covered, from valuation and electoral rolls to old newspapers, from school records to town council minutes, from foundry catalogues to church bazaar programmes, and all sorts of things in between.

The Archive is open free of charge to all researchers. A small charge for photocopying is made, and copies of photographs are for sale. Telephone, email, and letter enquiries may also be made, (although extensive research is chargeable and depends on available staff and resources) and staff will always be on hand during opening hours to help you in your search.

Please note: Some archives are held offsite and three days advance notice is required for access to these records. They include building warrant plans, planning applications and some financial records. They are identified in the relevant finding aids.
