Chester Zoo

Chester Zoo

We have a whopping 12,000 animals at the zoo from 400 different species.

About half those species are on the threatened list. We’re one of the world’s leading centres for conservation, working in the UK and worldwide to help protect animals and plants from extinction.

We’re devoted to caring for own animals too, and are always looking for ways to make their lives even better. Our Animal Health Centre, for example, is decked out with the best possible facilities for the veterinary team.

Education

Chester Zoo is a fantastic and unique learning experience for everyone and can bring your text books and school lessons to life!

It offers a brilliant and unique learning outside the classroom environment for students of all ages!

With our incredible 12,000 animals, our amazing collection of artefacts and our enthusiastic experts ready and waiting to share their passion for the natural world with you, a visit here is the perfect way to bring your text books to life!

We have some great new curriculum-linked workshops lined up for this Autumn Term and we’re particularly excited about our seasonal treat for KS1 and 2 children in which Santa Claus himself puts in an appearance.

Whether you’re interested in one of our workshops or prefer a self-guided visit, we’re here to help you make the most from your day and to provide a great learning experience for your pupils.

All You Need to Know will give you the brass tacks you need to make your school visit to our exciting, awe-inspiring and multi-sensory venue a great educational day out.

Contact us to chat to us to find out more.

We’re looking forward to meeting the conservationists of the future!
