Washford Radio Museum
Washford Radio Museum
Washford Radio Museum is situated within the Tropiquaria wildlife park in Washford, Somerset. It is based in a 1930’s art deco BBC Radio transmitting station, which is now a Grade II listed building.
The Washford Radio Museuem is run by Neil Wilson, M.Eng. A local electrical engineer, who was involved in establishing Tropiquaria right from the start. Over the years his collection of Radio memorabilia has expanded to include many items from the past, both from this site and other BBC radio sites.
Neil is frequently called upon to assist in renovating period pieces, and to supply radio equipment for TV and Film period dramas. The museum was recently featured on BBC’s Antiques Roadtrip. A clip of the programme can be seen below.
