Beaminster Museum
Beaminster Museum is a local history museum for Beaminster and thesurrounding villages and hamlets, including Broadwindsor, Burstock, Chedington, Corscombe, Drimpton, Halstock, Hooke, Mapperton, Melplash, Mosterton, Netherbury, Salway Ash, Stoke Abbott, South Perrott, Thorncombe and Toller Whelme.
The museum is housed in a converted , Grade II listed Congregational Church, just two minutes’ walk from the centre of Beaminster.
Our permanent collection highlights historic local families and displays objects and images associated with local trades and schools.
Recent new displays include the local Flax and Hemp industry, the fossils of nearby Horn Park National Nature Reserve, local Pubs and Inns and Police.
Learning & Discovery
We have a range of activities and loans boxes that can be used to help bring history alive for both young and old, whether it’s for a group or individuals. See what we have to offer and if you don’t see what you need then please contact us and we may be able to help.
Adults: During the closed season the museum offers a programme of afternoon Winter Talks given by visiting presenters on a variety of historical topics. For group visits and adult learning, please contact us by email in the first instance.
Schools or groups: Group visits to the museum are welcome all year round, and it’s open to anybody who is interested in seeing and taking part in what we have to offer; we can help link your visit to the National Curriculum, if required.
