Beck Isle Museum of Rural Life

A beautiful museum in the small market town of Pickering.

Perfect for visiting when the sun's shining to enjoy the outdoor farm courtyard and riverside picnic area and just as great to spend time exploring our 27 themed rooms during the occasional Yorkshire rain shower.

We have demonstrations and talks from our expert volunteers and can also provide tours for your school or group.

School Visits

We welcome groups of all ages and our team of Activities and Education volunteers can deliver structured school visits.

Education Room

A fantastic learning environment, half of which is a useable Victorian classroom. It's a changeable workspace for easy display mini exhibition of work.

With this room you can also have access to the excellent facilities of a laptop, projector and drop-down screen.

There are worktables and chairs and a role-play and dressing-up area.

This room is also lockable, so you can leave bags and coats securely (at your own risk).
