Built in 1803 as the Sheriff Court this is where Sir Walter Scott, author of such classics as The Heart of Midlothian and Rob Roy, dispensed justice to the people of Selkirkshire.

Broaden your exploration of Sir Walter Scott’s world with a visit to Sir Walter Scott’s Courtroom. A member of our staff will help your pupils discover for themselves what life was like in an 1800's courtroom, by making them feel like they have stepped back in time. Focusing on crime, punishment, law and order. This is ideal for school parties as there are plenty of hands on activities designed to stimulate and educate keen young minds.
