Green Howards Museum

When you bring your school to the museum you can take part in one of our lively, informative and hands on sessions. All of our sessions are delivered by a member of our Education Team and allow all students to handle original museum artifacts. For no extra charge you can also enjoy some of our other sessions in one of our partner organizations, The Georgian Theatre Royal and the Station, just a short walk away.

Sessions available:

First World War – also available as outreach
Find out what life was like for soldiers in the trenches by examining some fascinating original artifacts from the War. Students will even get the chance to try on a soldier's full kit and uniform.

Second World War - also available as outreach
Your students will find out about being a soldier in the War and how it affected people back at home in Richmond by handling a variety of artifacts.

Top Hats, Whistles and Waistcoats: the Victorians (at the Station)

Take your students back in time at the Station where they will find out what it was like to live and work in Victorian times through, interactive storytelling, object handling and touring the Station in Victorian costume.

Soap-balls, Candles and Tinder-boxes: Life in Georgian Richmond (at the Georgian Theatre Royal)

During this session your students will be taken on a fascinating tour of Richmond's beautiful Georgian Theatre Royal by one of our costumed guides and then use their historical enquiry skills to discover more about our Georgian past by handling some replica museum objects.
