Carymoor Environmental Centre
Visit Carymoor for a unique and unforgettable experience! At Carymoor we bring green issues to life all year round using our remarkable site which combines a working landfill site with a beautiful nature reserve, sensory and wild flower gardens, replica shanty town, Celtic roundhouse, forest school area and a sustainably built Education Centre.
Children can experience nature first-hand at the inspirational reserve which is a haven for wildlife of all kinds.
Our experienced and talented education team provide inspirational day visits for schools and other educational and community groups, as well as delivering an exciting range of outreach workshops in schools across Somerset and the wider region. We also provide a range of other services for schools, including school grounds development, INSET days and After-School Clubs.
Our popular events programme includes wildlife-themed Family Fun Days, our Future Field Naturalists Club for 8-12 year olds, Forest School taster sessions and regular whole-site Open Days.
We have managed 100 acres of capped landfill at Carymoor since 1996, developing it from bare clay into a haven for wildlife using a variety of habitat creation and land restoration techniques.
Much of our work could not be achieved without our dedicated team of volunteers - from helping with educational activities and events to habitat management and wildlife surveying, there's plenty to get involved in!
