The story of Aldershot Military Town and the civil towns of Aldershot, Farnborough and Cove.

Housed in the only surviving brick-built barrack blocks left in Aldershot, the museum tells the story of daily life for both soldier and civilian since 1854.

Aldershot Military Museum welcomes young visitors to study the unique mixture of social and military history that forms the story of Aldershot, “Home of the British Army” and Farnborough “Birth of British Aviation”. As well as our permanent displays we have a touring exhibition programme which often has opportunities for schools.

What are we remembering on Remembrance Day? KS1

In November only: Find out about Remembrance Day by using Susan Varley’s, Badger’s Parting Gifts as the focus. Investigate the symbolism used in the story, make a class wreath, handle museum objects and explore music and memorials.

Children in World War Two KS2

Bring Britain in World War II to life. Try on real and replica uniforms and handle a wide range of objects from the period. Look at key topics including rationing, evacuation and air raids.

Home Front Christmas KS2

In November and December only, a seasonal twist on Children in World War Two. Gain a real feel for Christmas in World War Two using sounds, smells, images and objects from our collection.

A Glimpse at the Past – local history KS2

What was life like in Aldershot, Farnborough and Cove over the last 150 years? Find out using census reports, maps, photographs and museum objects you can touch and hold.
