Bolton Magistrate’s Court

Education

NCCL delivers educational programmes at the Civil Justice Centre and Crown Court in Manchester and at Bolton Magistrates’ Court.

Our project focusses on educating young people about the legal system. Learners take part in a scripted/semi scripted mock trial with the chance to dress up in wigs and robes.Young people learn about the different courts and the different roles that work within the legal system. They also have the opportunity to improve their debating skills by taking part in reaching a verdict.

An interactive courtroom workshop is used to engage young people and encourage them to think about their responsibilities as active citizens. Students gain a new insight into the realities and consequences of committing a crime.

Our Courts of Justice programme focusses on educating young people about the legal system. Learners take part in mock trials with the chance to dress up in wigs and robes. Young people learn about the different courts and the different roles that work within the legal system. They also have the opportunity to improve their debating skills by taking part in reaching a verdict.

The sessions aim to raise the aspirations of young people by encouraging them to ask questions to a range of legal professionals and law student volunteers about what it is really like to work in the legal system and study law. The sessions are run in conjunction with NCCL.

NCCL also works in partnership with organisations in the North West to offer a full day of learning outside the classroom. This includes:
