British Museum
Established in 1753, the British Museum in London is dedicated to human history and culture.
It is now the most popular tourist attraction in the UK, with over 6 million visitors each year.
They come to see the famous permanent exhibits (numbering over 8 million items) such as the Egyptian mummies and artefacts, Ancient Greece (including the Elgin Marbles), Roman Britain, Arctic Peoples, 5,000-year-old Chinese scrolls, Money Through the Ages and the Rosetta Stone. But also to enjoy the incredible surroundings of the Great Court, the world-famous Reading Room and the buzz of hordes of visitors from across the globe.
And enjoy some of the many activities, treasure hunts and worksheets on offer.
There are also many temporary exhibitions, currently including: Witches, Ming vases, Shadow Theatre and How Germany Saw the First World War.
The Museum is open every day from 1000 to 1730, with extended opening until 2030 on Fridays.
