Caludon Castle Park

Caludon Castle Park

The park is a pleasant stretch of open grassland for running and frisbeeing, with a Children's Playground. The main feature is an imposing ruin of part of the castle, surrounded on three sides by a moat.

The park is a special place as it houses Coventry's only castle remains, that of Caludon Castle set admist 24 acres of beautiful park land forming a unique urban oasis. The Historical and Archaeological Study of Caludon Castle records that the first house was erected on this site at around the end of the 12th century, further buildings were added or rebuilt with the main building location moving further north from its original position, to include a fish pool, during the subsequent centuries. Today, only part of the banqueting hall wall remains together with evidence of the area occupied by the fish pool.

The park is a great place to relax and enjoy the open space as well walk around a 14th century ruin and historic site.

The bright and modern well maintained playground has the normal classic range of activities for children to enjoy as well as a 'zip line' for the more adventurous kids, or mums and dads! The play ground is next to the car park and the Multi Use Games Area.

There is a rich diversity of wildlife to observe and enjoy in the park throughout the seasons.
