Chedworth Roman Villa
Chedworth Roman Villa
The ruins of one of the largest Romano British villas in the country. Also considered one of the most complete and extensive sites, includes some great mosaics. Interesting activities and events throughout the summer and school hols.
Students will be able to learn about what life at the villa must have been like, plus the history of how the site was discovered by the Victorians. There are placards in each room to explain their purpose, which offer kids a chance to find out about the amazing inventions that were brought to this country by the Romans, such as bathhouses, latrines and even under floor heating!
Free guided tours are available most days and there is no need to book. With the help of one of our knowledgable guides.
Chedworth's Outreach Programme
We can offer illustrated talks about the Villa to your group or society. Great as a stand-alone talk, or as an introduction before a visit. We can cover a range of topics, including: the pre-Roman history of the site, second-century beginnings to the fourth-century heyday, demise and rediscovery, mosaics and archaeology.
