Cliveden Gardens and Maze
Cliveden Gardens and Maze
Set high above the Thames with far-reaching views, Cliveden’s impressive gardens and majestic woodlands capture the grandeur of a bygone age.
Follow in the footsteps of dukes, earls and royalty as you explore a series of gardens, each with their own special charm. From the formality of the Parterre with its vibrant floral displays to the quirky statuary and topiary in the Long Garden, the gardens will delight you in every season.
We have immaculately landscaped themed gardens, plus boat rides, family trail, guided tour and Gas Yard Cinema presentation, plus the lovely Storybook Play Den where kids can search the woods for hand carved storybook characters!
There is plenty to do on the land plus family boat hire and scenic public cruises available April through October.
Your students will be naturally drawn to the maze which is 500 metres is not insignificant but neither intimidating nor impossible but they request under 11s be accompanied. Adjacent to this is the Storybook Play Den which will delight all ages including yours with intricate hand carved representations of popular storybook characters to locate and discover. There is also a Trail guide available form the reception point in the visitor centre and this is free of charge.
These days the historic house itself is actually a high end hotel, but we still offer guided tours on Thursday and Sunday afternoons from April to October. You can see a film about the immediate area within the site's Gas Yard cinema.
