Get back to nature at this reserve, with over 1000 species recorded, there is always something to see. Free to visit.

College Lake Nature Reserve is thought of as one of the best places in Buckinghamshire to see water birds such as lapwings and redshanks.

There are a number of hides that overlook the lake and give you a great place to birdwatch.

There are so many habitats to explore such as chalk grassland covered in butterflies and insects, plus the scrub, hedgerows and woodland that spread across the reserve. Keep an eye out for small mammals and birds of prey, like barn owls and kestrels.

There is a Farming and Wildlife exhibition in the Centre, which gives you a chance to find out about old farming method and you can explore the world of bees at the Bee Centre.

The Time Trail is good for your first visit, just follow the ammonite markers. If you would like to explore the whole reserve, follow the lapwing markers for a 2 mile (3.2k) circular trail.

The reserve runs various Family events during school holidays throughout the year such as Wildlife Discovery Days and Teddy Bears’ picnics and trails!
