Coombe Country Park

Coombe Country Park

500 acres of beautiful woodlands, grasslands, gardens and lake.

We have a children's play area, climbing forest, picnic benches and barbecue areas, a bird hide, woodlands, open space for the children to play and of course plenty of ducks and swans to feed!

It is the perfect location for a fun filled family day out or a relaxing picnic out in the fresh air.

We have a childrens play area designed for children under 12 and a climbing forest out in the woods especially made for children over 8.

The bird hide is fully accessible and a great way for children to get up close and personal with nature. The park also has a Visitor Centre complete with a gift shop, cafe and Discovery Centre.

There's also plenty of opening space for you to bring and use your own games, football is always a firm favourite.

We also have an events programme which runs a variety of children's activities during the holidays.

The park is accessible by wheelchairs, although certain routes are not always suitable. Check with the Information Centre for the best places to go before venturing out.

Educational Visits at Coombe

The education service at Coombe provides a range of exciting activities for early years, primary, secondary, FE colleges and universities. The aim is to encourage a sense of wonder and appreciation for the environment through positive outdoor experiences in formal and informal learning situations. We work both at Coombe and across the city providing the education output for the parks service.

We can enthuse and excite pupils about subjects, making learning relevant to their everyday needs and all programmes build on the key skills of communication, thinking and working with others.

We can also focus on specific areas to suit your needs or provide a tailor-made programme unique to your requirements. These can be delivered both at Coombe, in local green space and even within schools. To get more ideas of the sort of programmes on offer, please look at the other pages and then telephone us to discuss your requirements.
