Flat Holm Island
Flat Holm Island
Just 5 miles off the Cardiff coast, our educational and residential trips explore the fascinating history and wildlife. Visit www.mwmarine.org for trips from Weston and Cardiff or www.bayislandvoyages.co.uk for fast rib rides from Cardiff Bay. Trips all year round. Dormitory accommodation or camping available.
Trips are available all year round to visit Flat Holm, from day trips to longer stays. There are pre organised boat trips to the island that go from Weston Super Mare and Cardiff that run a few times a month and can take up to 100 visitors at a time. The trips allow you between 3 and 6 hours on the island depending on tide times. Alternatively you can tailor your own visit if you have a large group or if you would like to stay for longer than a day.
On the island as part of your trip you can take a guided tour which will show you all the wonderful wildlife, buildings and scenery of the island. You can learn all about the ancient history of the Island up the present day and experience what it is like to live somewhere so remote. Once you have seen all the island has to offer you can visit the islands own pub for some refreshments, or have a browse in the shop. The island sells hot drinks and snacks, but you are recommended to bring your own lunch as there is not a restaurant or café on the island.
Sailings to the Island are arranged through a few private boat companies. Visit their websites or give them a call to find out about what trips they have planned, their availability and general information about the trip. MW Marine operate day visit but can also arrange private trips - 01934 636734 / 07754 833158. Group bookings can be arranged with Cardiff Sea Safaris 02920 487663.
