Set in 850 acres of beautiful parkland where 600 deer roam freely, Margam Discovery Centre offers high quality environmental education to all age groups, both residentially and for day visits. The centre is a state of the art low carbon footprint building designed by The Welsh School of Architects. The park boasts an Iron Age hill fort, 12 Century Cistercian Abbey remains, Margam Abbey Church, a Celtic Stones Museum and a beautiful 18th Century Orangery. All offer opportunities for historical investigations. Spanning both a coastal plain and upland area there are a wide range of opportunities for geographical and scientific study.
The Margam Discovery Centre has a diverse range of habitats within the Country Park itself including grasslands, woodlands, ponds and streams. Immediate access to these sites combined with easy access to the centre by road or rail makes it a great short course venue. For longer courses, the surrounding area has an unrivalled range of natural and human environments to investigate. These include the Kenfig NNR sand dune system, South Wales Heritage Coastline, Swansea and Cardiff, all a short drive away.
We have a specialist team of tutors who are experienced in running courses at Key Stage 2, 3, GCSE, A-level and IB. We also host many university courses. All courses are designed to meet the needs of each group. We currently run many biology and geography field courses but also teach courses that meet the requirements of history, design and technology and maths.
