Glamis Castle

Glamis Castle

Come and visit the finest castle in Scotland - Winner Best Attraction 2015

Glamis Castle has been the family home of the Earls of Strathmore and Kinghorne, and a royal residence, since 1372. It was the childhood home of Queen Elizabeth the late Queen Mother and the birthplace of Princess Margaret, as well as the legendary setting for Shakespeare´s famous play Macbeth.

The romantic turreted Castle with its beautiful parkland and sweeping driveway is of interest to visitors and historians alike. Today, visitors can see the 'Great Hall', which is now a Drawing Room, with its barrel-vaulted ceiling and magnificently-carved over-mantle, an 18th century Billiards Room and remarkable 17th century family chapel, its walls illustrated with biblical portraits by Dutch artist Jacob de Wet.

In addition, Glamis Castle invites visitors to dine in its tearoom and restaurant; purchase souvenirs from the gift shops and enjoy a calendar of diverse events throughout the year.

Take a guided tour with one of our expert guides and soak up the atmosphere of a thousand years of history.
