Glenesk Folk Museum

Glenesk Folk Museum

A richly diverse collection forms an encyclopaedic view of past Glen life: a kitchen; dairy and farming equipment; a parlour; costume display; children’s room; bothy; and superb archives covering every aspect of the Glen’s social history.

A wonderful array of domestic and agricultural objects, together with photographs and other artefacts, tells fascinating intertwined stories of lives lived on the land over centuries. Reconstructed rooms recreate life in the glen in Victorian times along with period dressing up, toys and activities.

This inspiring gem of a museum holds a richly diverse collection of national significance. It now extends to the Green Shed stables showing a new display of agricultural implements from as early as the 18th century, together with magnificent horses’ harnesses in the cobbled stalls.
