Herbert Art Gallery and Museum

Herbert Art Gallery and Museum

Visit us for Free to immerse yourself and your family in arts, history and culture. With a selection of permanent galleries and temporary exhibition spaces, along with a whole host of ongoing workshops and events, the Herbert offers a great day out. Our fantastic family offer was recognised when we won the Guardian Family Friendly Museum Award in 2010.

Discover what life was really like in Coventry through the centuries, through personal stories, historical films and our amazing collections. Wander through dazzling interactive displays and investigate the natural world, modern art, and the old masters in our eight permanent galleries. Explore a wide range of exhibitions, many from prestigious national museums, in the temporary exhibition spaces.

Our modern building is fully accessible to people with disabilities and we offer baby changing facilities, cafe, gift shop, history centre and archives and media suites. We also cater for events and corporate hire.

Learning is at the heart of the Herbert

Whether you are looking for an exciting place to take your pupils, vocational training for young people, professional development for the creative industries or an inspiring adult leaning course, the Herbert has the award winning and accredited solution.

Sessions led by a Herbert Learning Officer

Our award winning Learning team offers a range of Active Learning Sessions led by experienced museum education staff. The sessions cater for a variety of age groups and provide a hands-on, multi-sensory experience focusing on the Herbert's rich collections. Your pupils will get the opportunity to see and handle original historical objects, and to explore inspiring creative techniques.

The charges for our Active Learning Sessions represent excellent value. Coventry LEA schools pay £60 for a class of up to 32 pupils (reduced rate of £35 for groups of fewer than 15 children). Other schools pay £70 for a class of up to 32 (reduced rate of £40 for fewer than 15 children).

In Your School

Coventry schools can choose from a range of outreach sessions, delivered in your classroom by a learning officer using museum resources.
