The Holburne Museum

Welcome to Bath's art museum for everyone. We are open daily 10am to 5pm (Sunday and Bank Holiday 11am to 5pm). Admission to our permanent collection, as well as to many temporary displays, is free.

We take our inspiration from the Holburne's collections, its beautiful building and its setting - Sydney Gardens - with its fascinating history as a Georgian pleasure garden, enriched by the arrival of the Kennet and Avon Canal and the Great Western Railway.

Our workshops relate directly to the National Curriculum, including art and design, history, geography and science or to exam syllabi. We can also provide tailor-made workshops to suit your teaching requirements and are happy to develop longer-term projects with you.

Self-led visits can be arranged but we highly recommend that you book a workshop led by one of our team of experienced gallery educators in our purpose-built Clore Learning Space.

We offer a range of exciting activities and events for all ages and abilities. Our fabulous collection and beautiful surroundings provide the inspiration for creativity and fun. On the second floor of the Museum is the Sackler Discovery Centre: a place for visitors to explore the collection further, find out more about the current exhibition and get creative. 

Come and use the touch-screen to discover more interesting facts and stories behind some of the collection’s most intriguing artworks. Have a go at some of our free activities relating to the current exhibition and display your finished masterpieces on either the window gallery or upload pictures from your camera onto our Holburne Flickr gallery.
