Killerton House
Killerton House
Fine 18th-century house with costume collection, hillside garden and estate. Home to the 'Paulise de Bush' costume collection, with over 9,000 outfits. Delightful hillside garden featuring rhododendrons, magnolias, and rare trees. Stunning parkland walks all year round.
Discovery centre brings history and the environment to life.
The ground floor of the house is set out as if the family lived there. The centrepiece of the Music Room is the large country house organ gifted to Lady Lydia Acland on her marriage to Sir Thomas, 10th Baronet. The elegant Drawing Room was re-modelled in the early 20th century by Sir Charles, 12th Baronet, as a place to entertain. The Library holds the Sabine-Baring Gould collection, and the Dining Room a number of family portraits.
On the upper floor Killerton’s costume collection is exhibited. The 2012 exhibition 'Gems' centres on the most luxurious dresses and pieces from the collection.
