About Château de Chantereine 

Set in the heart of the picturesque town of Criel-sur-Mer, an old fishing village in Upper Normandy, the charming 17th century Château de Chantereine stands majestically in four acres of beautiful private grounds. The Château is ideally situated at the border of the Normandy and Picardy regions. The ancient region of Picardy is home to historic monuments and sites, including the Battlefields of the Somme, while Normandy has a distinctive character of its own, with beautiful chalky cliffs, busy seaside resorts and traditional fishing ports.

French Discovery

The Château provides a perfect base from which to explore the many historic and cultural highlights of northern France. From the sobering tours of the WW1 battlefields, to the rich tapestry of life in the beautiful cities and towns and the chance to experience the famous landmarks of Paris and all the magic of Disneyland®. We'll work with you to tailor your own rewarding schedule that allows you to focus on the aspects of France that are most relevant to your students' objectives. We offer a choice of full day, half day and overnight excursions.

World War I battlefields - full day excursion
A powerful inclusion to any school trip itinerary and one that brings this very moving period of history to life. During the day, students will have the chance to visit Musée de Abris, Beaumont -Hamel, Thiepval Memorial and Lochnagar Crater.

Rouen - full day excursion
From the famous clocks, cathedrals and churches, to the quaint streets and delicious macaroons, students can enjoy a tour from our experienced guide, exploring the history, culture and exceptional heritage that the capital of Upper Normandy has to offer.

Dieppe - half day excursion
An opportunity to explore the charming seaside town of Dieppe. Groups will learn about the town's history and context in World War II and experience the bustling market.
Other half day excursions include: Vimy Ridge, Amiens, Eu, cheese farm, chocolate factory, Nausicaa and Arras 

Paris - overnight excursion
Add an overnight excursion to the beginning or end of your visit to explore all this beautiful city has to offer. With our bespoke full day walking tour, we will put together an itinerary based on your quests. Popular stops include Champs Elysees, Arc de Triomphe, Sacré Couer, Notre Dame and the Louvre as well as a trip to the first level of the Eiffel Tower. There is also an option of an overnight stay at a Kingswood approved hotel, followed by an action packed day at Disneyland® Resort Paris.

Lower Normandy
Add a Lower Normandy excursion to your trip and you’ll stay overnight at the 18th century Château du Baffy, set in the traditional Normandy hamlet of Colombiers. Students will have the opportunity to visit the D-Day landings beaches and Mont St Michael and see the legendary Bayeux Tapestry.

Accommodation and Catering

Accommodation at the Château is divided between three buildings in muliti-bedded rooms of 2-12 beds. The main building has 60 beds across two floors, with toilet and shower facilities on each floor. The right wing has a capacity of 54 beds with toilet and shower facilities. It also has disabled access and facilities on the ground floor. The left wing contains 92 beds with shower and toilet facilities. The ground floor also features disabled access and facilities. All accommodation buildings are security protected with digital coding.

Guests at the Château enjoy three traditional French meals per day, including a healthy continental breakfast, a large balanced packed lunch and a four course meal in the evening. Students have the opportunity to try new types of food, especially at the end of the stay when they can choose to try frogs’ legs and snails.
