Museum of Archaeology & Anthropology

Two million years of human history
One million artefacts
Countless astonishing stories

Archaeology and Anthropology are ways of knowing people past and present.

The museum houses artefacts made by people across the world and throughout human history and also houses the University's collections of local antiquities.

Schools Outreach

The Museum welcomes school groups of all ages and can provide additional support and resources to make sure that you get the most out of your visit. Please contact the Head Attendant in advance to arrange your visit to the Museum.

The Museum’s collections offer numerous links to the National Curriculum and provide an invaluable opportunity to see unique artefacts from British and world archaeology and anthropology first-hand.

We have produced a range of worksheets and other educational materials designed to inspire, inform and bring the collections to life. In addition, we can loan out boxes of objects that can be used for a range of activities in the classroom both prior to and following your visit.

Please contact the Museum’s Outreach Organiser Sarah-Jane Harknett for further details of the support available.
