Museum of Technology
Museum of Technology
The Museum spans that very small period in history in which the technological revolution took place. The items represent the evolution of electrical, electronic and warfare technology between the period 1850 and 1980.
Remember "A & B" Public Telephones, Batteries you had to fill up, Crystal Sets, Gas Masks, Morse Keys, Frame Aerials? Then you will want to see our collection of EARLY TECHNOLOGY.
Our collection of WAR MEMORABILIA has artefacts from the Somme and a range of items from the Second World War.
Our museum is funded and run entirely by volunteers. If you have enjoyed visiting our web site, a donation, however small, will help us continue our mission, to rescue, preserve and display early technology for the education and enjoyment of all - thank you.
For Schools
The museum offers a number of services for schools:
- Loan boxes allow children to experience real objects in the classroom. Teachers notes are provided with loan boxes and the Museum's website and the E2BN gallery can be used for further research.
- The E2BN gallery has thousands of high quality searchable images which can be downloaded and used by teachers and children.
We are happy to accept school visits to our museum but, owing to the size of our galleries, there is a limit of 10 children who should be accompanied by a minimum of 3 adults.
We can demonstrate some of our more exciting exhibits to the children and allow them to handle some of the objects.
So that we can plan your visit and discuss what the children should see and handle we recommend a pre-visit.
