The Musical Museum

The Musical Museum

From the tiny clockwork Musical Box to the self playing ‘Mighty Wurlitzer’, the collection embraces an impressive and fascinating array that will enchant most children.

A dreamlike assortment of automatic instruments, including reproducing pianos, orchestrions, orchestrelles, residence organs and violin players! From the tiniest clockwork Musical Box to the ‘Mighty Wurlitzer’, these self playing instruments will captivate and charm the children, plus the intricacies and techniques involved will fascinate the mechanically minded.

Specialist tour guides offer multiple weekend presentations of their collections, with pleasant and informed commentary getting you the most education for your time, with extra insight on the history and capabilities of a great many instruments, how they were recorded and how the hardware has been restored.

Elsewhere on site they host a lively programme of Concerts, Films and Dances, usually within a family friendly arena but clearly posted if otherwise.

Plus you can stop for a stylish snack in the Riverview Tearoom, or pop in the shop for a look at children’s size instruments, musical souvenirs and other treasures, so bring your folding pocket money along!
