The National Maritime Museum (NMM) in Greenwich, is the leading maritime museum of the United Kingdom and may be the largest museum of its kind in the world. The historic buildings form part of the Maritime Greenwich World Heritage Site which also incorporates the Royal Observatory, and 17th-century Queen's House. In 2012, Her Majesty the Queen formally approved Royal Museums Greenwich as the new overall title for the National Maritime Museum, Queen’s House, the Royal Observatory, Greenwich and the Cutty Sark.
Schools at Royal Museums Greenwich
The National Maritime Museum and Queen’s House schools programme offers a wide variety of onsite sessions catering for EYFS and KS1–5, as well as classroom resources and INSET training.
The Royal Observatory offers a full-day programme for groups at each key stage, including a workshop in the LRF (Lloyds Register Foundation) learning centre and a visit to the Weller Astronomy Galleries, alongside classroom resources.
Cutty Sark offers an exciting programme of curriculum-linked facilitated workshops for Foundation Stage to KS3. Alternatively, you can make a self-directed trip and tailor your visit to the needs of your class.
