North Norfolk Railway
Also known as the "Poppy Line", the North Norfolk Line is a preserved steam railway connecting the town of Sheringham to the picturesque Georgian town of Holt.
The North Norfolk Railway offers far more than just a train ride, experience yesterday tomorrow with a day out travelling through some of Norfolk’s stunning coastal countryside.
The railway operates both steam (link is external) and diesel (link is external) trains, see the timetable (link is external) for dates and times, and make a day of it with our great value rover ticket (link is external)!
The trip takes you through a delightful area of North Norfolk designated as being of outstanding natural beauty. To the south are wooded hills and the Norfolk beauty spots of Kelling Heath and Sheringham Park. To the north, the sea. All within easy walking distance from the various stations.
The flowers are a sight to see throughout the year. In spring and early summer there are primroses, bluebells and the yellow gorse. Later in the year the poppies abound and are set off by the mauve heathers.
Enjoy a 10.5m ride on an historic steam train - you can break your journey to look around the stations and marvel at the steam laden atmosphere from a bygone age.
