Orange Tree Theatre

Orange Tree Theatre

The Orange Tree Theatre is a 172-seat theatre which was built specifically as a theatre in the round. It is housed within a disused 1867 primary school, built in Victorian Gothic style.

The theatre was founded in 1971 and exclusively presents its own productions. It also operates an educational programme called Shakespeare for Schools and runs a trainee director scheme.

Education

We have been providing a range of valuable community and education projects in Richmond and the local boroughs for over 30 years, with an estimated 20,000 participants every year.

The Orange Tree also operates an educational programme called Shakespeare for Schools, part of the Primary Shakespeare Project first devised in 1989. It tours fully costumed adaptations, given by professional actors, in school halls around south west London and Surrey.
