People's History Museum
People's History Museum
The main story of the museum is told in two purpose built galleries located on the first and second floor. The galleries have been divided into seven themes and roughly follow a chronological order over the last 200 years. The story starts with the Peterloo Massacre of 1819 and ends in the present day. It covers electoral reform, revolution, workers, voting rights, citizens, time off and banners.
The museum also houses major exhibitions relating to themes such as elections, finance, strikes and other social issues. The rolling programme changes regularly as do the education offerings which the museum offers.
Learning
The museum offers an inspiring Learning Programme for early years, primary schools, secondary schools and further and higher education institutions
We can adapt all the programmes listed to suit the needs of any group – just ask! Many of our sessions are suitable, or can be adapted, for learners with special needs.
