Rom Skatepark

Rom Skatepark

Come and carve the Original Iconic Concrete 70s Skatepark

ROM is one of the few groundbreaking 70s skateparks still holding its own. Many have come from wide and far to skate and ride The ROM. Bob Haro, Matt Hoffman, Tony Hawk, Lance Mountain and the Bones Brigade, Scott Maylon and even Billy Mills have ripped it up at Rom.

Most come for the world famous Pool and the unbeatable never ending lines of the Moguls.

Rom was built in 1978 for the first skateboarders, but the lines of the concrete (The Pool, Moguls, Performance Bowl, Snake Run, Four Leaf Clover, Concrete Halfpipe, Slalom Run and Freestyle Area) have stood the test of time. Add to this a 7-foot wooden spine ramp a 4-foot wooden mini ramp and a 6-foot ramp indoors for when the sun ain't shining, along with curved wall rides, jump box, flat banks, grind boxes and quarter-pipes and you've got days full of grinding action.

Come and carve at Rom Skatepark. Let's keep the ROM flame burning.

Grade II Listing

The Rom, is now a Grade II listed building. It is the second skatepark in the world to be given the protection. The first was the Bro Bowl in Tampa, Florida, which was added to the US National Register of Historic Places in October 2013.

The Rom, which takes its name from the nearby river, was built using seamless pressurised concrete and is closely based on Californian skateparks. It is the best example of a small number of skateparks that survive from the 1970s, according to English Heritage.
