Royal Opera House (ROH)
Royal Opera House (ROH)
The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden is the UK's premier operatic venue. Each year the Royal Opera Company produces new productions sung by the biggest stars on the planet. While the Royal Ballet, featuring some of the greatest dancers around, including many guest artists, performs a vast repertoire of both classic and modern pieces.
But schools are an integral part of the Opera House's work too - contrary to some popular opinion!
Introductions to both opera and Ballet can be made either by attending one of our Schools' Matinees, or by bringing students on a backstage tour or to one of our workshops which we host regularly on a range of topics which include performance but also aspects of our work such as wigs and make-up and set and lighting design.
We also run a wide variety of ongoing and one-off projects, often in the community or with teachers and schools who wish to engage their students in the beauty and splendour of opera or ballet, while giving the group a challenge to put on a show all of their own making. The Royal Opera House Bridge is a nationwide project which sees 10 music hubs across England connecting children with great art and culture on a regular basis.
