Salisbury Cathedral

Salisbury Cathedral

Discover over 750 years of history, including Britain's tallest spire, the world's best preserved original Magna Carta (1215) and Europe's oldest working clock, on a tour with one of our volunteer guides. Built between 1220 and 1258, in one architectural style, Salisbury is Britain's finest 13th century Gothic Cathedral.

The Chapter House, and the Salisbury Cathedral original copy of Magna Carta 1215 will be closed 5 January - 6 March 2015 as we prepare for the exciting new Magna Carta exhibition opening 7 March 2015. We apologise for any disappointment this causes visitors during this period.

Education Programmes

Salisbury Cathedral is a unique learning environment for children and students of all ages whether as an iconic place of worship, a place of historical significance or a building of great architectural and artistic note. The Cathedral's Education Department provides a comprehensive programme offering curriculum and syllabus-based activities that cover a wide range of interests and subject areas for students from Foundation stage to sixth form and beyond.

With an emphasis on experiential learning and enquiry-based approaches, the children and students will always find themselves challenged. Each session is carefully tailored to ensure that it meets the requirements of the curriculum or the relevant syllabus and is led by an experienced team of teachers and trained volunteers.
