Artists past and present are featured, from big names such as the Impressionists through to young, up and coming regional artists. There's something for everyone in our fun-packed diary of family activities, and our series of talks and tours.
The Victoria Art Gallery provides a range of interactive, fun and accessible activities for all ages. We offer a range of visit options, from a teaching session to self-guided activities.
Pre-school and reception
When I grow up I want to be a ...!
Look at people and jobs in the Gallery paintings, listen to a story, follow a trail and make a self-portrait. This activity supports personal, social and emotional development.
Explore the outdoors indoors!
Explore seasonal paintings and investigate objects. Create an autumn animal picture. This activity supports understanding the world and expressive art and design.
Key Stage 1
People and portraits: Past times to Pop art
Discover how portraits have changed from King Henry 8th to Picasso and Pop art. Create a historic-style self-portrait or a modern masterpiece.
Nature explorer
Explore nature in our special exhibition - see an amazing owl by Dali and works by Warhol. Make a mini block print of your own design and a mixed media collage.
Key Stage 2
Great Greeks
Investigate the Parthenon frieze, handle original Greek objects and find out more about Greek art and architecture. Create individual characters from the frieze and build up a Parthenon frieze to take back to the classroom.
Great Landscapes
Sketch using watercolour pencils and experiment with paint, pastels and tissue to look at seasons and the changing landscape, from spring sunshine to stormy winter scenes. See paintings by Gainsborough, La Thangue and Bath based artist John Eaves.
Face forward
Explore faces and portraits in this active session. Investigate our special exhibition and see work by Picasso, Dali, Matisse and Warhol.

Explore the artists' work in this special exhibition. Make sketches and create a block print in the style of Warhol, Picasso or Dali.
Blitzed in Bath
Explore paintings documenting the Bath Blitz of 1942. Pupils will produce artwork and drawings using pastel and ink.
Key Stage 3
Interactive sessions are based on the National Curriculum and subject areas featured include Art & Design. Skills and knowledge acquired during Key Stage 2 will be reinforced and extended. Pupils will be encouraged to develop their speaking and listening skills in whole class, small groups and by individual work.
Welcome to the Art Gallery!
A 2-hour creative session contributing to coursework and engaging with our permanent and special exhibitions. Following whole class discussion students explore ways of recording observations made in the galleries. They work individually with dry materials. GCSE, GNVQ, A-level
Work experience placements are offered from age 16 years. All placements are unpaid and are subject to availability and an interview. We welcome teachers’ visits and can accommodate risk assessments as required.
