A fascinating working museum set in a restored leather factory, where you can watch live demonstrations of traditional leather craft and maybe have a go yourself!
Walsall Leather Museum will help you and the kids to discover why Walsall was known as the capital of leather goods in Britain.
It is free to visit, and is run by a team of friendly and knowledgeable volunteers.
You can watch skilled leather workers as they hand craft leather good such as purses and wallets, and learn how Walsall people have been making some of the world’s finest leather goods for 200 years! Kids will love the atmospheric period workshop, plus the chance to have a go at the craft themselves.
There are a number of displays around the museum, which tell the story of the Walsall leather trade and have some great examples for local work, both past and present. Look out for the saddles that were made for the Royal family!
Guided tours are available if you would like to know more about the great tradition of leather craft.
The museum is fully accessible for pushchairs and wheelchairs.
