For over a century the Whitechapel Gallery has premiered world-class artists from modern masters such as Pablo Picasso, Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko and Frida Kahlo to contemporaries such as Sophie Calle, Paul Noble, Thomas Struth, Sarah Lucas and Mark Wallinger.

With beautiful galleries, exhibitions, artist commissions, collection displays, historic archives, education resources, inspiring art courses, dining room and bookshop, the Gallery is open all year round, so there is always something free to see.

Schools

Our learning projects are developed in close dialogue with schools, through residencies, discussions and lively activities that encourage links to the national curriculum.

School Workshops

Lively hands-on workshops enable school groups to develop their ideas, skills and creativity through art making and discussion. Participating in a range of activities, groups discuss and think creatively about the themes and concepts of exhibitions.

The next workshops are Tuesday 10 & Tuesday 24 February. Free.

Gallery Visits

Book a free visit to explore the exhibitions with your pupils, including an introduction to the Whitechapel Gallery and use of the Clore Creative Studio. Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays.

Masterclasses

Why make art? What can we learn from artists? Leading artists provide insights into creative professions and inspire young people to engage with art and culture by developing new skills.

Projects and Residencies

Artists are invited by the Gallery to work closely with teachers  at a primary or secondary school to explore new approaches to learning through contemporary art.
